Announcing the new Fotis Mitsis Prize of the Hellenic Society

The Hellenic Society of Periodontology & Implant Dentistry (HSP) is proud to announce the establishment of the Fotis Mitsis Prize in honour of the late Professor Fotis Mitsis , a former Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, who made significant contributions to the field of periodontology and dental education.

The Fotis Mitsis Prize will be dedicated to encouraging, supporting, and publicly promoting the scientific activities of young dentists in the field of periodontology. The prize includes a monetary award of 1500 euros, an honorary diploma, and sponsorship provided by dental commercial companies and other certified sources.

The prize is awarded biennially and is open to young Greek, Cypriot, or other expatriate dentists up to the age of 32 who have demonstrated proven training, knowledge, and contributions in periodontology. Eligible candidates must have completed the first round of postgraduate studies in periodontology, whether from Greek institutions like the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki or from other recognised universities.

The selection criteria for the prize include the candidate's ethos and personality, academic and continuing education in periodontology, scientific activity, and potential for future contributions to the field and the HSP.

Candidates must submit their full CV, reprints of scientific work, documentation of studies and training, and at least two letters of recommendation, to the HSP by June 26th, 2024. The subject line of the email should state "Candidate documentation for the F. Mitsis Award."

The evaluation committee will review the submissions and may request personal interviews with candidates. The recipient will be announced during the HSP's inaugural meeting on September 27th, 2024. The awardee will also present on a topic defined by the jury and will be invited to submit a scientific article to the HSP's online journal, "Advances in Periodontology."

For more information, interested candidates can contact Ms. Eleni Maznoki at the HSP office or submit their documents via email at helperio@periodontology.gr
