Learn about Perio Workshop, the EFP’s annual scientific meeting that brings the best periodontal scientists together to reach a new consensus on strategic periodontal issues.

The British Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (BSP) is excited to announce its annual conference, to be held from 9 to 11 October 2024, in Newcastle upon Tyne. This year’s theme, "Interdisciplinarity - achieving best patient outcomes," emphasises the importance of collaboration across periodontology, dentistry, and medicine to provide the highest standard of care for patients.

“Our focus on interdisciplinarity this year aims to encourage collaboration among all dental and medical professionals, ensuring we achieve the very best outcomes for our patients," said Professor Philip Preshaw, BSP President.

The conference will feature an impressive line-up of internationally renowned speakers, including dentists, medics, scientists, clinicians, dental hygienists, and dental therapists. Attendees will gain invaluable insights and knowledge from experts at the forefront of their fields. Additionally, a parallel session will focus on career development for Dental Care Professionals (DCPs), offering a comprehensive look at career paths beyond clinical practice.

BSP Conference highlights:

Keynote lecture by Keith Harris OBE: Renowned music industry manager Keith Harris will present a keynote lecture on "Teamworking in the music industry." With a career spanning over four decades, Harris has worked with legends such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Diana Ross. His insights into teamwork and collaboration promise to be both engaging and enlightening.
Sir Wilfred Fish Research Prize: The conference will feature the prestigious Sir Wilfred Fish Research Prize entries, showcasing cutting-edge research in periodontology.
Awards and prizes: Attendees will have the opportunity to enter various competitions, including the Case Report and Research Poster prizes, celebrating excellence in the field.

Career development for DCPs: A dedicated session will explore career development opportunities for dental hygienists and therapists, providing valuable guidance for those looking to expand their professional horizons.
Conference dinner: themed "Black and white party," it will be held at the conference hotel with live music. Guests are encouraged to dress in black or white, with plenty of bling to make the night sparkle!
