The European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and Wiley are seeking applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (JCP), the official journal of the EFP. The application deadline is 15 April 2025. This prestigious five-year appointment will begin on 1 April 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews, with the final selection presented for ratification at the EFP General Assembly.
The JCP is a leading global journal in periodontology and implant dentistry, publishing high-quality research to advance clinical practice and scientific understanding in the field. The new Editor-in-Chief will be instrumental in maintaining the journal’s high standards and guiding its strategic development.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure the journal maintains the highest standards of peer review, research integrity, and publishing ethics.
- Oversee the editorial process to ensure timely and efficient manuscript handling.
- Collaborate with Wiley and the EFP to develop the journal’s strategy and maintain its leading position.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the peer review and editorial processes.
- Represent the journal at conferences and professional events.
- Lead a team of Associate Editors, ensuring broad representation across geographical regions and subject areas.
Ideal candidate:
- Extensive knowledge of the field, spanning basic, translational, and clinical research.
- A strong track record of scientific publication and editorial experience.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to innovation in academic publishing and research dissemination.
- Awareness of evolving trends in publishing, including digital innovation and open science.
- Experience in journal publishing, editorial decision-making, and peer review processes.
