First EuroPerio Series online educational session focuses on bone regeneration

Categories:Clinical Practice, EuroPerio

The first of seven EuroPerio Series online educational sessions will take place on Monday 13 September, when the focus will be on the hot topic of bone regeneration.

Chaired by Prof Mariano Sanz (Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, and co-chair of the EFP Workshop Committee), Bone regeneration – the present faces the future: a conversation between the present and the future features presentations from three leading clinicians:

  • Istvan Urban (Hungary) on the importance of the surgical approach and effective use of guided bone regeneration.
  • Cecilie Gjerde (Norway) on autologous mesenchymal cells and synthetic bone replacement grafts.
  • Saso Ivanovski (Australia) on the use of customised scaffolds.

The session takes place from 18:00 to 20:00 (CET) and will be recorded for later on-demand viewing over the following four weeks.

“This session will cover a very pertinent clinical problem we face frequently in the clinic: the presence of severely resorbed alveolar ridges that are not amenable for implant placement unless vertical bone augmentation interventions are carried out," said Mariano Sanz.

He added that one key question is whether these surgical techniques and regenerative technologies can be performed only by highly experienced clinicians or if they can be carried out in a predictable way in standard clinical practice. Another question is whether advances in science and technology can improve the predicablity and accessibility of vertical bone-augmentation procedures and which are the appropriate advanced technologies. "All these questions will be covered in this session," noted Prof Sanz.

The sessions are free for people who have already registered and paid for the EuroPerio10 congress, which takes place in Copenhagen from June 15 to 18, 2022.

Registration for each individual session of the EuroPerio Series costs €35. Registration for all seven sessions costs €195 (a 20% discount on booking for individual sessions). Registration fees include 25% VAT. The registration fee includes participation in the virtual scientific programme, a certificate of attendance, and on-demand access to the recordings.

The EuroPerio Series sessions take place on the second Monday of every month, from 18:00 to 20:00 (CET). The second session, on October 11, will explore orthodontic treatment in patients with Stage IV periodontitis.
