Friday, June 5 – a packed programme for the most intensive day of EuroPerio8

Friday, June 5 is the most intensive day of EuroPerio8, with a busy programme running from 8.30 a.m. to 7.15 p.m. and a wide variety of presentations covering many of the important issues in periodontology and implant dentistry.

There will be the latest scientific research on topics which include the aetiology of periodontal disease and the prospects for using stem cells, and expert guidance on implant placement and treatment.

In the morning, the 'Master Clinician Forum' focuses on implants, with presentations addressing the treatment of the anterior and posterior maxilla in challenging situations. Specific subjects covered will include the use of 3D solutions to optimise outcomes, innovative approaches to sinus lifting, and the effective use of short implants.

Meanwhile, 'Critical factors in periodontal regeneration'considers current approaches to periodontal regeneration as well as innovative and emerging technologies, including the potential use of stem cells. 'Understanding periodontitis: current base knowledge' features a panel devoted to biomarkers and tissue destruction and another to the aetiology of periodontitis, which will review the evidence that plaque causes periodontitis.

In the afternoon, 'Critical factors in aesthetic outcomes for implant placement' explores the choice of the right device to use, along with tissue augmentation, including both grafting and the use of soft-tissue substitutes.

'Understanding periodontal systemic associations: current base knowledge' investigates the association between periodontitis and both diabetes and cardiovascular disease, while the 'Periodontal specialist forum' covers the management of patients with severe chronic periodontitis and the use of systemic antimicrobials.

Finally, 'Contemporary practical periodontics' runs throughout the day, offering insight into the effective management of halitosis, non-surgical therapies to treat peri-implantitis, the critical factors in assessing periodontal and peri-implant disease, and the differential diagnosis of diseases of periodontal tissues.

There will also be series of sponsor sessions at lunchtime and in the early evening.
