Gum Health Day 2019: Austria – self-testing and special tee-shirts

Board members of the Austrian Society of Periodontology spent May 12 at a popular Vienna shopping centre, wearing special tee-shirts displaying the Gum Health Day 2019 logo.

Using tablet computers, they encouraged shoppers to find out about their periodontal-risk status using a new periodontitis self-test app – ÖGP Parodontitis Selbsttest – which the society has adapted from one created by the German Society of Periodontology.

The mean periodontitis risk of the participants was above 50% and reflected the overall estimate of the prevalence of periodontitis in the Austrian population.

The society expects dental journals and the biggest Austrian newspaper to report about this activity.
