Gum Health Day 2019: Lithuania – Daytime TV and oral-hygiene conference

Jurate Zekoniene, president of the Lithuanian Association of Periodontology, took to the airwaves on Gum Health Day, participating in a daytime television show (“Ask a Doctor”) dedicated to periodontal health. The programme focused on the relationship between periodontal health and Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr Zekoniene also took part in the 1st Baltic Congress of Oral Hygiene, in Vilnius on May 10 and 11, giving a lecture in which she promoted Gum Health Day.

The association set up a photo booth at this congress, where participants could be photographed within a frame bearing the slogan “Healthy gums, beautiful smile”, while displaying images of periodontally challenged mouths (see picture).

Some of these photographs were then shared via social media (Facebook) to boost awareness of periodontal health and Gum Health Day.

The Lithuanian Association of Periodontology also used Facebook to share the EFP-produced materials for Gum Health Day, with banners and infographics translated into Lithuanian.
