Mucogingival Symposium by SOBRAPI

The highly anticipated Mucogingival Symposium, hosted by the Brazilian Society of Periodontology and Implantology (SOBRAPI) in collaboration with the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration (SEPA), took place on November 23rd and 24th. The event, attended by 350 delegates, convened at the Centro Empresarial Mario Henrique Simonsen, situated in the vibrant Barra da Tijuca district of Rio de Janeiro.

The symposium featured an impressive line-up of lecturers, comprising six renowned international experts and four distinguished Brazilian speakers. Participants had anticipated this opportunity to delve into the intricacies of mucogingival surgery and soft tissue manipulation surrounding teeth and implants.

Professor Sergio Kahn, president of SOBRAPI, expressed his delight at the partnership with SEPA, stating: "It was a wonderful meeting! We welcomed 350 participants from all Brazilian states as well as from other Latin American countries and France. The partnership with SEPA helped bring the symposium to another level. We are also grateful for the presence of esteemed international and Brazilian experts who shared their vast knowledge and experiences, thus pushing the boundaries of periodontal and implant dentistry.”

Star attractions of the event included Dr Massimo de Sanctis from Italy and Dr Sofia Aroca from France, both renowned figures in the realm of mucogingival surgery. They not only delivered enlightening lectures but also conducted two exclusive hands-on sessions, providing attendees with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience and insights.

 

Professor José Nart, SEPA president, said the collaboration with SOBRAPI: “seeks to advance the dental profession by facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices between experts from various corners of the globe. This symposium exemplifies the importance of international cooperation in pushing the boundaries of dental care and clinical practice.”

This symposium was coordinated by Prof Sergio Kahn, Prof José Nart and Paulo Mesquita, scientific director. It provided a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with and learn from some of the world's foremost authorities in mucogingival surgery and is set to leave a lasting impact on the clinical practice of participants.
