Hady Haririan

Hady Haririan is a professor and head of the Department of Periodontology at the Dental Clinic of the Sigmund Freud University Vienna, Austria, after having worked for ten years as an assistant at the Medical University of Vienna. He is responsible for education in periodontology in the bachelor‘s and master‘s programme. Since 2012, he has also worked in a private practice in Vienna. He graduated in dentistry from the Medical University of Graz, Austria, where he acquired a diploma in gerostomatology.

 

He gained international experience during his studies in Paris (Université René Descartes, Paris V) and through internships in Marseille, France and Cairo, Egypt. His research focus is on salivary diagnostics, especially stress-related biomarkers in periodontal disease. He has received several national scientific awards including the Research Prize of the Austrian Dental Federation and the Rudolf Slavicek-Preis publication award.

 

Dr Haririan carried out his postgraduate studies in periodontology at the Medical University of Vienna, receiving his master’s degree in 2012, followed by a PhD in the “regeneration of bones and joints” programme in 2017. In 2019, he finished his habilitation in the field of periodontology. He has reviewer experience with leading journals in dentistry.

 

Since 2012, he has been a board member of the Austrian Society of Periodontology, a founding member of its “Youngsters” committee, and the society’s EFP delegate from 2014 to 2019. He was also the national co-ordinator for the annual Gum Health Day. In 2019, Dr. Haririan became the general secretary of the Austrian Society of Periodontology and is now also a junior member of the EFP’s European projects committee.
